In the mid-1950s, Ilmari Tapiovaara collaborated with the Italian publisher La Permanente Mobili in Cantù to produce a series of pieces exhibited during the annual "Selettiva" competition. This collaboration continued in the 1960s as illustrated by the various advertisements published in Domus magazine at that time.
