Ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp, likely produced in Sweden during the 1950s, is a fine example of mid-century Scandinavian design characterized by organic form and careful material selection. The lamp’s structure is composed of a brass suspension system, including a ceiling canopy and rod, which support a sculptural diffuser. The shade is crafted from a delicate translucent textile stretched over a wireframe, creating a symmetrical, slightly flattened lantern shape.
The brass fittings show a natural patina consistent with age, notably featuring a decorative crown-like detail near the upper section of the shade, adding subtle elegance to the design. The fabric shade has subtle vertical ribbing that diffuses light warmly and evenly, casting a soft glow throughout the space. Inside, the light source sits centrally, with an internal frame holding the pleated fabric in a precise, radial geometric pattern.
Although the designer is unknown, the lamp’s materials and construction are typical of Swedish lighting manufacturers from the era, recognized for their high craftsmanship and functional aesthetics. The lamp is preserved in original condition, with expected patina on the brass and slight wear on the fabric, maintaining its authenticity and vintage charm.
