Hans-Agne Jakobsson floor lamp
This floor lamp, model G-154, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s. Constructed from solid brass, the lamp displays a naturally aged surface with a warm golden tone, accentuating the clean, minimalist lines typical of mid-century Scandinavian design. The brass finish shows patination and oxidation, characteristic of untreated brass and consistent with its age.
The lamp features a cylindrical two-tiered shade, with the upper section perforated to allow for heat dissipation. The shade is mounted on an adjustable joint, enabling directional control of the light. A vertical handle extends from the lower part of the shade, facilitating easy adjustment of the light angle. The slender brass shaft bends near the top to support the shade in an offset position and terminates in a circular flat base in matching brass, providing both visual and structural balance. The lamp operates via an inline switch on its original white plastic cord.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a prominent Swedish lighting designer celebrated for his innovative use of materials and his focus on atmospheric light diffusion. His work blends functional clarity with poetic simplicity, and his Markaryd-based firm produced numerous designs that have become icons of Scandinavian modernism.
This example stands slightly shorter than other versions of the model, measuring 110 cm in height. The overall dimensions are 110 cm high, 30 cm deep, and 10 cm wide (approximately 43.3 by 11.8 by 3.9 inches). The lamp is in good vintage condition, showing wear and surface marks on the brass consistent with its age and material.
