Monica Backström sculptures

This rare set comprises eight glass sculptures designed by Monica Backström, a distinguished Swedish glass artist known for her innovative and imaginative contributions to mid-20th century Swedish glass art. Produced by Boda Glasbruk, a renowned Swedish glassworks recognized for its experimental approach and high-quality craftsmanship, these sculptures exemplify the artistic exploration that defined Scandinavian glass design during the period.

Created in 1965, each sculpture is individually crafted, exhibiting a variety of organic forms that range from rounded to asymmetrical shapes. The color palette incorporates earthy tones of amber, muted browns, black, white, and touches of green. These colors interact with the transparent and textured surfaces, creating dynamic visual effects that emphasize contrast and depth. The sculptures feature diverse decorative techniques, including crackled textures and smooth etched lines, underscoring the meticulous handcraftsmanship and technical skill involved in their production.
