Poul Kjærholm table

This rare academy table was designed by Poul Kjærholm and produced by Rud. Rasmussen Cabinetmakers in Denmark during the 1950s. The table features a black lacquered steel frame supporting a pinewood top that highlights a pronounced grain pattern. The minimalist construction exemplifies Kjærholm’s signature balance between industrial materials and organic elements, reflecting his refined approach to modernist design.

Poul Kjærholm was renowned for his innovative use of steel combined with natural materials, creating furniture with sculptural yet functional qualities. Unlike many contemporaries who focused primarily on wood, Kjærholm treated metal with the same level of craftsmanship traditionally reserved for timber.
