Information

This is a pair of circular wall mirrors produced in the 1960s by Glas Mäster, a glassworks located in Markaryd, Sweden. Each mirror belongs to model number 133 and is constructed using float glass and a brass frame, typical of Scandinavian mid-century craftsmanship.

The mirrors feature a strong geometric presence, defined by a bold circular form. The outer edge is enclosed by a broad, rounded brass frame, subtly tapering towards the glass. The brass has a warm golden tone with a brushed surface, creating a soft reflection of light while emphasizing the simplicity and functionality characteristic of Scandinavian design. The visible minor patina and surface wear are consistent with age, indicating well-preserved original materials with natural oxidation that adds to the authenticity.

Glas Mäster was known for its production of decorative and functional glass and mirror elements during the mid-20th century, often supplying to domestic interiors that favored clarity of form and quality of material. Model 133 showcases the era’s industrial advances, such as float glass production, paired with handcrafted metalwork. This combination reflects both modern manufacturing precision and artisanal detailing.

The mirrors are in very good vintage condition, retaining their original hanging brackets and maker’s label on the reverse. They demonstrate the refined aesthetics of Scandinavian modernism during the 1960s, aligning with trends that emphasized minimal ornamentation, material integrity, and practical beauty.

Each mirror has a diameter of 57 cm (22.4 inches) and a depth of 5 cm (2 inches).
