Ceiling lamp

This Swedish Modern ceiling lamp, model no. 1188, was produced by Bröderna Malmströms Metallvarufabrik in Sweden and represents a distinguished expression of mid-20th century Scandinavian lighting design. Though the designer remains unidentified, the piece reflects the era’s commitment to blending formal balance, material warmth, and understated elegance.

The chandelier features a symmetrical brass structure composed of a central vertical stem that supports a series of outwardly radiating arms. These arms are gracefully curved, giving the piece a soft, organic rhythm while maintaining a clear architectural symmetry. Each arm culminates in a slender, tapered brass cone that houses a light fixture. This detail underscores the precision of the metalwork and adds to the visual coherence of the form.

Topping each cone is a white, fabric lampshade in a gently flared silhouette. The shades are proportionally balanced to the brass cones and serve to diffuse the light, producing a soft, ambient glow that enhances the warmth of the brass.
