Information

This very rare ceiling lamp was designed by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen and produced by ASEA in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamp features a sculptural composition with six brass arms extending outward from a central teak frame, each arm supporting a conical opaline glass shade. The brass arms form a dynamic geometric structure that enhances both the lamp’s decorative presence and functional lighting. Suspended from a brass canopy, the lamp is further stabilized by fine wire supports, which maintain a sense of lightness and floating elegance.

Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913–2004) was a Danish lighting designer celebrated for his bold and expressive mid-century creations. His work is often characterized by sculptural metal elements, organic forms, and innovative light diffusion. Although he is known for more experimental and industrial designs, this lamp showcases his ability to create refined, modernist pieces that combine elegance with practical lighting solutions.

ASEA (Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget) was one of Sweden’s leading lighting manufacturers in the mid-20th century. Collaborating with prominent designers, ASEA produced high-quality modernist fixtures that were widely adopted in Scandinavian homes and public interiors.

This lamp exemplifies Scandinavian modern design through its combination of natural materials, such as teak, with brass and opaline glass. The conical glass shades provide a soft, diffused illumination, making it particularly suited for ambient lighting in dining or living areas.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, showing minor age-related wear on the brass and wood components. Its dimensions measure 78 cm in width, 57 cm in depth, and 78 cm in height (approximately 30.7 by 22.4 by 30.7 inches).
