Information

This rare coffee table was designed by Arne Vodder and produced in Denmark during the 1950s. The table is crafted in teak, displaying the rich, warm tones and linear grain patterns characteristic of the wood. The top is shaped in a softly rounded triangular form with raised edges, a detail that both frames the surface and gives the piece a functional, tray-like character.

The design incorporates a lower shelf, positioned within the tapering legs, offering an additional level of storage and balance to the overall composition. The construction reflects Vodder’s approach to furniture: sculptural yet restrained, with attention to detail and an emphasis on harmonious proportions. The rounded corners and softened edges align with the organic tendencies of Danish modern design in this period.

Arne Vodder was one of the most influential Danish designers of the mid twentieth century, working alongside contemporaries such as Finn Juhl and Nanna Ditzel. He was particularly known for his refined use of natural materials and for designs that emphasized both form and function. This table exemplifies the Scandinavian mid century tradition, where practicality and elegance are seamlessly integrated.

The table has been completely restored and is preserved in excellent vintage condition, showing only minor signs of use consistent with its age. The restoration has ensured that the finish and structure are maintained to a high standard while retaining the authenticity of the piece.
