Information

This very rare serving trolley was designed and produced by Peder Moos in Denmark. The piece is executed in mahogany and pearwood, with two tiers of inset glass shelves. The glass features a subtly textured, hammered surface that enhances the visual depth and plays with light. The frame displays Moos’ masterful joinery, with refined dowel joints and delicately shaped uprights, giving the trolley a light and elegant appearance despite its robust construction. It stands on four small castors, allowing it to be moved easily.

The trolley is signed and dated “Moos, 1948” on the underside, confirming its authenticity and connecting it to Moos’ practice of signing and dating his works. Designed originally in 1942, this example reflects his characteristic focus on craftsmanship and material quality, with a sensitivity to proportion and line that places it among the most distinctive Danish furniture designs of the mid-20th century.

Peder Moos was known for producing his pieces in very limited numbers, often working alone and using traditional hand tools. His works are considered functional pieces of art and are highly sought after for their sculptural quality and uncompromising attention to detail.

The trolley remains in excellent vintage condition with only small signs of usage and a gentle patina consistent with age. It is an iconic representation of Scandinavian design’s commitment to combining functionality, fine materials, and artisanal skill.

Dimensions: width 71.5 cm (28.1 inches), depth 41.5 cm (16.3 inches), height 57 cm (22.4 inches).
