Berndt Nordstedt table lamps

This pair of table lamps was designed by Berndt Nordstedt and produced by Bergboms in Sweden during the 1960s. The lamps exemplify Scandinavian mid-century lighting design, combining restrained sculptural form with carefully balanced proportions. Nordstedt’s work is characterized by an emphasis on elegant silhouettes and a refined interaction between material and light, qualities that are clearly present in this model.

Each lamp features a tall, tapering glass body with a gently flared base, giving the form a stable yet slender appearance. The glass is executed in a muted green tone with a glossy surface that reflects light softly and evenly. At the top, a narrow teak collar provides a subtle contrast to the glass, both in color and texture, before transitioning to the metal lamp fittings. The overall impression is calm and architectural, with a vertical emphasis typical of Scandinavian lighting from this period.

The lamps are produced by Bergboms, a Swedish manufacturer known for its high-quality lighting fixtures throughout the mid-20th century. Bergboms collaborated with several notable designers and was recognized for combining modern design language with solid craftsmanship and durable materials. The use of glass and teak reflects the period’s preference for natural materials alongside industrial components.

The pair is offered in good vintage condition, showing small signs of usage consistent with age. These include minor surface marks and gentle wear to the glass and fittings, contributing to a natural patina without detracting from the overall appearance.
