Hans-Agne Jakobsson table lamp
This rare table lamp, model B-142, was designed and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. It is a remarkable example of Scandinavian modernist lighting, crafted entirely from brass. The lamp features a cylindrical column supporting a multi-tiered shade made of stacked concentric rings. This distinctive louvered design controls light diffusion, minimizing glare and creating a warm, ambient glow. A perforated top plate further enhances the lamp’s soft and even light distribution.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a celebrated Swedish lighting designer and manufacturer known for his expertise in atmospheric lighting. His work often incorporated layered structures and premium materials to shape and soften light, achieving inviting and elegant effects. His company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, was a leading producer of innovative decorative and functional lighting during the mid-20th century, earning international acclaim.
The lamp is in good vintage condition, showing natural patina and oxidation typical of aged brass, which adds to its character.
