Information

This rare academy table, designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1950 and produced by Rud. Rasmussen Cabinetmakers in Denmark, exemplifies Kjærholm’s minimalist and disciplined design philosophy. The table features a pine tabletop with a warm, natural patina that accentuates the wood’s organic grain. This natural element is elegantly contrasted by a sleek black lacquered steel frame, showcasing Kjærholm’s signature integration of industrial materials with traditional craftsmanship.

The slender steel legs have a precise geometric profile, providing stability while maintaining a light visual presence. The combination of pine and black steel embodies the mid-century Scandinavian modern ethos of simplicity, functionality, and material honesty.

Poul Kjærholm’s work remains influential for its clean, functional forms and high-quality materials. Rud. Rasmussen, a respected Danish cabinetmaker, ensured the table’s refined execution, making it a notable example of Scandinavian furniture design from the period.

The table is in very good vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age.

Dimensions: Width 141 cm (55.5 inches), Depth 85 cm (33.5 inches), Height 69 cm (27.2 inches).
