Berndt Nordstedt table lamps
This pair of table lamps was designed by Berndt Nordstedt and produced by Bergboms in Sweden during the 1960s. The lamps demonstrate a refined fusion of minimalism and material clarity, typical of Scandinavian mid-century lighting design.
The lamp bases are made of thick, hand-blown glass in a deep, glossy green tone that transitions subtly in opacity depending on the light conditions. The elegant, flared silhouette tapers gently towards the neck, lending a slender, organic presence. The upper fittings are made of teak, adding a warm, natural contrast to the cool, glassy sheen of the base. Each lamp is completed with a simple, cream-colored conical fabric shade that supports the understated aesthetic while softly diffusing the light.
Berndt Nordstedt was a Swedish designer known for his work in lighting and furniture, contributing several notable designs to Bergboms. Bergboms, active during the mid-20th century, was one of Sweden’s leading lighting manufacturers and played a key role in popularizing modernist lighting across Scandinavia. Their production quality and collaborations with prominent designers made them a defining presence in Swedish domestic interiors of the period.
The lamps are preserved in good vintage condition, exhibiting only light signs of wear consistent with age and use. The glass surfaces show minor imperfections typical of hand-blown material, and the teak necks have a gently aged patina.
