Josef Frank floor lamp
This rare floor lamp, model 2431, was designed by Josef Frank and produced by Svenskt Tenn in Sweden. Originally created in 1938, the lamp exemplifies Frank’s distinctive approach to lighting design, blending functional elements with expressive and playful aesthetics.
The lamp features a black lacquered metal stem mounted on a circular brass base, creating a harmonious contrast between materials while ensuring stability. Three independently adjustable brass arms extend outward, each fitted with a conical shade in different colors—green, cream, and yellow. The original shades show signs of use, including minor stains, adding to the lamp’s vintage character. Each arm is equipped with its own pull switch, allowing for flexible, individualized control of the light sources.
Josef Frank, a key figure in Swedish design, was known for rejecting rigid functionalism in favor of warmth, organic forms, and vibrant color variation. This lamp perfectly embodies his philosophy, combining practicality with a charming, dynamic presence in any interior.
The lamp measures 125 cm in height (49.2 inches) with a total width of 90 cm (35.4 inches). It is in good vintage condition, displaying wear appropriate for its age, particularly on the shades.
