Arthur Percy vases
This extensive set of nineteen glass vases was designed by the Swedish designer Arthur Percy and produced by Gullaskruf in Sweden during the 1950s. Percy, one of the leading figures in Swedish glass design of the 20th century, was known for his refined sense of color, purity of form, and ability to combine artistic expression with functional design. His work at Gullaskruf contributed significantly to the company’s reputation for producing some of the most elegant and collectible Scandinavian glass of the mid-century period.
The vases are crafted in mouth-blown glass and display a striking range of colors, including deep burgundy, emerald green, teal, amber, cobalt blue, and golden yellow. Their silhouettes vary from slender, elongated necks with narrow openings to more rounded, bulbous bases, creating a visually dynamic group when arranged together. Each piece demonstrates the fluidity and precision of Scandinavian glassmaking techniques, with a lightness and clarity that allows the vivid hues to catch and diffuse light beautifully.
Condition is good with minor signs of age and use, consistent with their period.
The pieces vary in size, adding to the sculptural quality of the collection. Dimensions range in height from 14 to 51 cm (5.5 to 20.1 in)
