Information

This rare set of five brass bowls is attributed to Carl Auböck and produced by the Carl Auböck workshop in Vienna, Austria, during the 1950s. The collection embodies the workshop’s signature approach — uniting modernist simplicity with artisanal warmth — and reflects the balance between precision craftsmanship and expressive imperfection that defines Auböck’s work.

Each bowl is handcrafted in solid brass, with subtle irregularities and fine hammering that give them a tactile, sculptural presence. The slightly asymmetrical rim and gently sloping sides enhance their organic appeal, while the visible rivets and oxidation traces emphasize the handmade process. Their golden surface has developed a deep, natural patina over time, adding richness and authenticity to the ensemble.

Carl Auböck’s Vienna atelier was one of the most progressive design studios of the 20th century, bridging art, craft, and industrial design. His objects — ranging from desk accessories to household pieces — often blurred the line between utility and sculpture. This set of bowls exemplifies that ethos: minimalist yet full of character, designed to be both functional and contemplative.

The set is in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
