Carl Malmsten easy chair
This rare easy chair, model Redet, was designed by Carl Malmsten and produced by AB O.H. Sjögren in Tranås, Sweden, during the 1930s. The model was created in 1936 and notably presented at the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris, highlighting its significance in early modern Scandinavian design.
The chair features a solid mahogany frame, showcasing the wood’s rich warmth and durability. It retains its original velvet mohair upholstery in a deep brown tone, offering both luxurious texture and comfort. The design is distinguished by its sculptural form, featuring a high scalloped backrest that provides ample support and an asymmetrical armrest that introduces a distinctive and dynamic visual element.
