Information

This rare console table was designed by David Rosén and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in Sweden. Rosén, a leading Swedish designer and architect active during the mid-20th century, created furniture that combined functional modernism with refined craftsmanship. His work for NK represents some of the most elegant examples of Swedish mid-century design, often characterized by carefully considered proportions and a harmonious use of fine materials.

The console is constructed from teak and beech, with brass details used for the drawer handles. The top features a raised lip around its edges, a subtle yet practical detail that also adds to the table’s sense of refinement. The warm tones of the teak top highlight its natural grain, while the lighter beech provides structural balance. Three front drawers with brass handles offer storage while maintaining the clean, linear expression of the design.

Produced by NK, one of Sweden’s most prestigious furniture manufacturers, the piece reflects the company’s tradition of high-quality production and commitment to Scandinavian modern ideals. NK was instrumental in introducing Swedish furniture design to a wider international audience, often collaborating with leading designers such as Rosén to produce works of enduring value.

The table remains in good vintage condition, showing signs of use and patina consistent with age, which adds depth to its material presence. Its dimensions are 140 cm in length, 38 cm in depth, and 73 cm in height, with the tabletop height measured at 70 cm. In inches, this corresponds to 55.1 x 15 x 28.7 inches, with the tabletop at 27.5 inches.
