Gunnar Nylund bowl

This ceramic bowl, model ARO, was designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand in Sweden during the 1960s. The bowl features a soft, asymmetrical form with flowing organic lines that gently rise toward one edge, creating a sense of movement and balance. It is finished in a matte ivory glaze with subtle speckling that enhances the natural tone and texture of the ceramic material.

Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was one of Scandinavia’s most influential ceramic artists, known for his long association with Rörstrand and his innovative use of matte glazes and sculptural forms. His work from this period reflects a refined minimalism, emphasizing harmony between material, color, and shape. The ARO model embodies his characteristic combination of modernist purity and handcrafted warmth.

The piece remains in good vintage condition, showing small signs of use consistent with age. It stands as a timeless example of mid-century Scandinavian design and craftsmanship.
