Hans-Agne Jakobsson mirror

This rare mirror, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced in Markaryd, Sweden, is a finely crafted example of Scandinavian modern design, notable for its elegant simplicity and high-quality material selection. Unlike Jakobsson’s more widely known work in lighting, this piece reflects his broader design sensibility, which favored organic forms, tactile materials, and refined proportions.

The mirror is constructed from rosewood, a luxurious hardwood known for its deep, reddish-brown tone and striking grain pattern. The circular frame is smoothly contoured, emphasizing the natural beauty of the wood, while an elongated, integrated handle extends downward, giving the piece a balanced and functional form. The mirror surface itself is round and securely mounted, with no visible distortions or separation from the frame.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a prominent Swedish designer best known for his atmospheric lighting fixtures, but his design work extended into furniture and accessories that showcased his command of form, proportion, and material expression.
