Harald Notini wall lamp
Wall lamp model 8496, designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden during the 1940s. This piece represents a refined example of Swedish Modern lighting design, balancing sculptural form and material contrast.
The lamp features a hand-moulded frosted glass shade with subtle vertical wave patterns that diffuse the light evenly and create a soft, organic glow when illuminated. The shade is supported by a brass fitting with a tapered wall mount and a curved holder that secures the glass at its base. The combination of textured opaline glass and aged brass gives the lamp both a tactile and visual depth typical of mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship.
Harald Notini (1879–1959) was a prominent Swedish lighting designer associated with Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, known for his elegant integration of modernist form and artisanal quality. His work during the 1930s and 1940s contributed to the transition from Art Deco to functional modern design in Sweden. Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik, founded in the late 19th century, was among the leading Swedish lighting manufacturers, noted for its collaborations with designers who shaped the identity of Swedish Modern lighting.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition with small signs of use consistent with age, including a minor nick on the glass and light surface marks on the brass. These details are typical for pieces of this period and do not detract from the overall presentation or functionality.
