Illum Wikkelsø sofa
Very rare sofa model V11 designed by Illum Wikkelsø and produced by Holger Christiansen in Denmark during the 1960s. The sofa is constructed with a solid wooden frame and features its original black leather upholstery.
The design displays Wikkelsø’s characteristic balance between geometry and comfort. The rectangular frame, with its slightly tapering profile, rests on four solid conical legs that give the sofa a floating appearance. The original black leather shows a rich surface patina and natural creasing, emphasizing both age and material quality. The seat and back cushions are fully upholstered and generously proportioned, offering a soft contrast to the structured form of the frame.
This model represents mid-century Scandinavian design at its most architectural and refined. The minimalist exterior conceals a focus on ergonomic comfort, and the visible wood grain of the legs contrasts beautifully with the deep black leather. The craftsmanship and materials highlight the precision of Danish furniture production in this period.
Excellent vintage condition with light wear and patina consistent with age.
Dimensions: width 230 cm (90.6 in), depth 81 cm (31.9 in), height 66 cm (26 in), seat height 40 cm (15.7 in).
