Information

This rare side table was designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard and produced by Nissen Langå in Denmark during the 1960s. It is crafted in richly grained rosewood, paired with a square inset of nine “Azur” ceramic tiles produced by Krojyden Randers. The tiles feature a textured circular relief pattern in a deep green glaze, providing both a functional heat-resistant surface and a vivid visual contrast to the warm tones of the rosewood.

The table’s round top is framed by a raised edge with smoothly contoured corners, supported by two sculptural sled-style legs connected by a central stretcher. The joinery is precise and expressive, revealing the high craftsmanship standards of Danish mid-century cabinetmaking. The proportions are compact, making it suitable as a side table, occasional table, or accent piece. The surface and frame remain in good vintage condition, with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Jens Harald Quistgaard, known internationally for his long-standing work with Dansk Designs, brought a sculptural and functional sensibility to furniture and tableware alike. His collaboration with Nissen Langå reflects his ability to blend traditional woodworking techniques with modern Scandinavian design principles. The combination of rosewood and artisan ceramics is characteristic of Danish design in the 1960s, when natural materials and refined detailing defined the aesthetic.

Dimensions: Diameter 49.5 cm (19.5 inches), Height 46 cm (18.1 inches).
