Josef Frank floor lamps
This rare pair of floor lamps, model 2548, was designed by Josef Frank and produced by Svenskt Tenn in Sweden during the 1950s. The lamps showcase Frank’s distinctive Scandinavian modernism, combining classical influences with functional and elegant design.
The structure features an open frame crafted from warm cherrywood, supporting an adjustable brass stem. This design allows the height to vary between 100 cm and 140 cm (39.4 to 55.1 inches), providing versatile lighting options. The original pleated fabric lampshades softly diffuse the light, enhancing the ambiance. Over time, the brass has developed a natural patina, adding vintage character, while the cherrywood contrasts beautifully with the metal, creating a balanced and harmonious composition.
Josef Frank was a pivotal figure in 20th-century Scandinavian design, celebrated for his humanistic approach that merged decorative elements with modernist principles. His collaboration with Svenskt Tenn produced timeless, highly collectible designs known for their refined craftsmanship.
These lamps are in good vintage condition, showing expected signs of wear consistent with their age and use. The dimensions are 32 cm in width, 20 cm in depth, and an adjustable height ranging from 100 cm to 140 cm (12.6 x 7.9 x 39.4–55.1 inches).
