Information

Set of four bar stools designed by Piet Hein and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark, designed in 1961. The stools are constructed with chromed steel frames that taper elegantly toward the base, creating a visual lightness balanced by structural precision. The design is characterized by its sculptural form — a series of slender, converging steel rods that rise from a circular base, connecting to a circular footrest and seat support.

The seats are newly reupholstered in high-quality natural leather from Tärnsjö Garveri, a Swedish tannery known for its environmentally certified vegetable-tanned hides. The warm brown leather contrasts beautifully with the cool chrome structure, emphasizing the refined industrial aesthetic typical of Scandinavian modernism in the 1960s.

Piet Hein’s design approach merges functional clarity with geometric harmony, reflecting his background in both mathematics and art. The bar stools demonstrate this balance through their elegant proportions and ergonomic form, suited for both domestic and public interiors.

The set remains in good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The chrome surfaces retain a fine luster, and the newly upholstered seats present a soft matte finish.

Dimensions: diameter 36 cm (14.2 in), height 83 cm (32.7 in).
