Information

This rare set of armchairs was designed by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm and produced by Alfred Kill International in Denmark in 1969. The chairs exemplify Scandinavian mid-century modern design, balancing functionality with sculptural elegance.

The frame features a steel swivel base with a five-star foot, providing stability and smooth rotational movement. The seat and backrest are formed from a single, continuous piece of black leather, shaped organically to offer ergonomic comfort while maintaining a sleek, streamlined profile. The leather upholstery is original, showing a natural patina that adds depth and character to the chairs. The armrests are subtly incorporated into the flowing form, with padded extensions that enhance both comfort and visual cohesion.

Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm were prominent Danish designers known for their minimalist yet luxurious furniture, combining high-quality materials with precise engineering. Their collaboration in the 1960s produced iconic designs that remain highly sought after by collectors. Alfred Kill International, the first producer of these chairs, was known for exceptional craftsmanship and adherence to the designers’ rigorous standards, ensuring a high level of quality.

Each chair measures 72 cm in width, 63 cm in depth, and 104 cm in height (28.3 x 24.8 x 40.9 inches), with a seat height of 45 cm (17.7 inches). The chairs show visible wear and patina on the leather consistent with their age, reflecting their authentic vintage condition.
