Information

This storage unit on wheels by an unknown designer and was likely produced in Sweden during the 1930s. Constructed from teak, the piece displays a warm medium-brown tone with a fine grain structure, complemented by chromed steel handles and brass castors. The design is rectilinear and compact, featuring a shallow tray-like top with raised edges, suitable for serving or display purposes.

The front section is divided into two functional compartments: the left side consists of vertical slots intended for organizing documents, magazines, or trays, while the right side includes two stepped horizontal shelves, likely designed for bottles or smaller containers. Above these compartments are two lockable drawers with integrated brass keyholes, providing enclosed storage options.

Tubular chromed metal handles curve outward on either side, facilitating easy maneuvering, while the entire unit rests on four small brass castors, allowing it to function flexibly as a mobile storage or bar cart. The combination of teak, brass, and chrome exemplifies early Scandinavian modernist tendencies, emphasizing functional versatility and a thoughtful expression of materials.

The storage unit is in very good condition considering its age, with minor surface wear and fine scratches on the top consistent with careful use. The structure remains stable, and all components appear original.

Though the designer remains unidentified, the piece reflects prewar Scandinavian design principles, characterized by rational form and understated craftsmanship that anticipated the refined modernist aesthetics of the 1940s and 1950s.

The dimensions measure 60 cm in width, 32 cm in depth, and 47.5 cm in height, approximately 23.6 x 12.6 x 18.7 inches.
