Information

This rare pair of adjustable wall lamps, designed by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen and produced by Holm Sørensen & Co in Denmark during the 1950s, captures the distinctive elegance of Danish modern lighting with a refined sculptural presence. The design combines warmth and functionality in a way that feels both architectural and expressive, making these lamps ideal as reading lights beside a bed, as accent lighting in a living room, or as striking wall-mounted statement pieces in a hallway or study.

Each lamp is built around a beautifully shaped teak wall mount and arm, showcasing the rich natural grain and deep honey-brown tone typical of high-quality Scandinavian teak from the period. From the wooden structure extends a slender, patinated brass arm with a gentle curve, giving the lamps a light and floating appearance while also allowing the direction of the shade to be adjusted. The brass elements have developed a soft, authentic vintage patina, adding depth and character without distracting from the clean overall lines.

The lamps are fitted with new pleated lamp shades in an off-white tone. Their conical form creates a timeless silhouette and produces a warm, comfortable light, with the pleated surface adding subtle texture when illuminated. The shades measure 23 cm in diameter and 20 cm in height, giving them a balanced scale that suits both intimate and more open interior settings. The full depth from the wall is 90 cm, which provides excellent reach and makes the lamps particularly practical for positioning light exactly where it is needed.

Both wall lamps are in good vintage condition, showing only small signs of age and usage consistent with careful use over time. The teak surfaces retain a well-preserved finish, and the brass shows minor wear and patination that enhances the original mid-century character. With their combination of organic materials, adjustable design, and understated sophistication, this pair represents a highly collectible and functional example of Danish lighting from one of the era’s most respected designers.
