Folkform candlestick

The “Candle Collage” candlestick, designed and produced by Folkform in Sweden in 2010, is a sculptural and architecturally influenced object cast in black oxidized bronze. This piece is part of a limited edition series and is marked as number 2 of 50. The design features a composition of geometric volumes arranged asymmetrically, incorporating various functional recesses and platforms intended to hold candles or other small objects. A single elevated holder rises from the structure, introducing a vertical accent that contrasts with the otherwise linear and modular arrangement.

Folkform, founded by Swedish designers Anna Holmquist and Chandra Ahlsell, is recognized for their exploration of materiality and industrial production methods. Their work often bridges artisanal craftsmanship with mass-production techniques, resulting in objects that challenge conventional design categories by combining functionality with sculptural expression. The “Candle Collage” embodies this philosophy, drawing from brutalist and architectural influences to create a strong, tactile presence.

The surface of the candlestick features a textured, matte black oxidized bronze finish that highlights the raw qualities of the material and adds depth to the overall composition.
