Information

This rare pair of easy chairs, model Bodö, was designed by Svante Skogh and produced by Seffle Möbelfabrik in Sweden during the 1950s. The design reflects Skogh’s refined approach to modern Scandinavian furniture, emphasizing structural simplicity, tactile materials, and elegant proportions.

The chairs are constructed in solid oak, displaying a light natural tone with visible grain and precise joinery. The frame features a gently reclined back and seat supported by a series of horizontal oak slats secured with broad, hand-stitched leather straps. This combination of wood and leather provides both durability and a flexible, ergonomic foundation for the cushions.

The cushions have been newly reupholstered in contrasting fabrics—deep blue for the seats and crisp white for the backrests—enhancing the visual clarity of the design while preserving its mid-century character. The upholstery is supported by the original leather webbing, contributing to the chairs’ comfort and authenticity.

Each chair retains its original metal label reading “Design: Svante Skogh, Sweden” confirming authenticity. The Bodö model exemplifies the Swedish functionalist aesthetic, balancing craftsmanship with minimal ornamentation and a focus on human-centered comfort.

Both chairs are in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and use, showing a warm patina on the oak surfaces and well-preserved leather straps.

Dimensions: width 72.5 cm (28.5 in), depth 84 cm (33 in), height 64 cm (25 in), seat height 38 cm (15 in).
