Carl Fagerlund floor lamps

This rare pair of floor lamps was designed by Carl Fagerlund and produced by Orrefors in Sweden during the 1960s. The lamps are composed of brass, thick clear glass, and newly added lamp shades covered in velvet fabric, illustrating a refined interpretation of mid-century Scandinavian modernism.

Each lamp features a slender brass stem interspersed with five clear glass elements, creating a rhythmic vertical articulation. The glass sections are precisely cut into geometric forms, providing a contrasting clarity against the warm patinated brass. The structure stands on a circular glass base, reinforcing the visual lightness of the overall design while providing stable support. The newly crafted shades are finished in a soft velvet fabric in a neutral tone, complementing the material palette and enhancing the subtle elegance of the lamps. The surfaces are in excellent condition, with the brass displaying a mild, even patina and the glass remaining clear.

Carl Fagerlund was a renowned Swedish lighting designer, known for his sophisticated work with glass while collaborating extensively with Orrefors, one of Sweden’s most prestigious glassworks. His designs are distinguished by a careful balance of materials, craftsmanship, and form, often achieving a luminous, jewel-like quality through the use of crystal-clear glass elements.

Each lamp measures 50 cm in diameter and 143.5 cm in height, corresponding approximately to 19.7 inches in diameter and 56.5 inches in height.
