The piece exemplifies mid-century Scandinavian design, combining natural materials and functional form with artistic detailing.

The base of the holder is ceramic, glazed in a steel blue tone with a smooth, glossy white interior glaze. The exterior surface is decorated with a repeating raised text pattern spelling “CIGARET” which adds texture and a playful graphic element to the otherwise minimalist form. The ceramic portion is signed with “Danmark – Kronjyden” authenticating its origin and maker.

The rosewood lid fits snugly on top and is noted for its warm, rich wood grain and finely crafted, rounded form with a central circular recess, offering a tactile contrast to the ceramic base. Richard Nissen’s woodworking complements Quistgaard’s design ethos, which emphasizes simplicity and natural materials.

Measuring 8.5 cm in height and 12.5 cm in diameter, this piece is practical in size and well-suited for tabletop or shelf display. It is in very good condition overall, showing only slight wear on the edges consistent with age and use.
