Jar
This is a pewter jar produced by GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget) in Sweden in 1939.
The piece has a circular form with a diameter of 10.5 cm and a height of 7.5 cm. The lid is decorated with a radiating relief of stylized, overlapping leaves, creating a floral impression, and is topped with a simple cylindrical knob. The pewter surface shows a matte finish with natural signs of age and use, contributing to its authentic patina.
The underside bears the GAB hallmark “GAB TENN” alongside the stamped designation “N8” dating the production to 1939. The GAB mark, accompanied by the Swedish national control stamp for pewter, ensures authenticity and quality. GAB, active from the late 19th century through the 20th century, was one of Sweden’s foremost producers of silver and pewter, collaborating with several leading designers, though the exact designer of this piece remains unknown.
Condition is good, with light wear consistent with age and use.
