Gunnar Nylund bowl

This ceramic bowl was designed by Gunnar Nylund and produced by Rörstrand in Sweden during the 1950s. The piece displays Nylund’s signature balance of form and glaze, combining refined proportions with a surface treatment that emphasizes depth and texture.

The bowl has a slightly flaring conical profile, resting on a narrow circular foot. The glaze transitions from warm ochre and golden-brown hues at the rim to deeper shades of brown and near-black toward the center. The interior surface reveals a striking, almost radiating effect where the glaze pools and crystallizes, giving the piece both visual richness and a sense of movement.

Gunnar Nylund, one of Sweden’s most important ceramic artists of the 20th century, worked extensively for Rörstrand, where he introduced a wide range of artistic stoneware and pioneered experimental glazes.
