Art Deco vase
Rare bronze vase produced in Sweden during the 1930s, executed in a refined Art Deco style. The form is composed with a strong sense of proportion and balance, characteristic of the period’s focus on clean geometry and sculptural clarity.
The silhouette is defined by a pronounced contrast between a rounded, bulbous body and a tall, tapering neck that gently flares toward the rim. This interplay between soft curvature and controlled verticality creates a dynamic yet harmonious profile. The vase stands on a stepped circular foot, providing a stable base while reinforcing the architectural quality of the design.
The surface is finished in a deep, dark bronze patina with subtle variations in tone, ranging from warm brown to near-black hues. The finish has developed a soft, slightly mottled character over time, enhancing the sculptural presence and emphasizing the contours of the form. The interior remains untreated, revealing the raw texture of the metal.
On the underside, the piece bears a stamped mark reading “ÄKTA BRONS” indicating genuine bronze and supporting its Swedish origin. This detail, together with the form and finish, situates the vase firmly within Scandinavian interpretations of Art Deco metalwork.
