Nanna Ditzel coffee table
This rare coffee table was designed by Nanna Ditzel and produced by Søren Willadsen in Denmark during the 1950s. Crafted in rosewood, the table exemplifies Ditzel’s organic and forward-looking design language, where sculptural form and material refinement are brought together in a harmonious balance. The elongated rectangular tabletop rests on elegantly tapered legs connected by subtle stretchers, highlighting the fine craftsmanship and precision typical of Danish cabinetmaking from this period. The rosewood surface displays a rich grain pattern with deep tonal variation, enhancing the table’s visual depth and warmth.
Nanna Ditzel (1923–2005) was one of the leading figures in Danish modern design, celebrated for her experimental approach and ability to merge craftsmanship with innovation. Trained as a cabinetmaker and educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, she worked across furniture, jewelry, and textile design. Her collaboration with several distinguished Danish manufacturers, including Søren Willadsen, resulted in furniture pieces that embody the ideals of lightness, tactility, and modern functionality.
Produced by Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik, a workshop known for high-quality craftsmanship and technical precision, this table demonstrates the refined production standards that defined mid-century Scandinavian furniture. Its proportions and material choices reflect the era’s emphasis on timeless design and understated luxury.
The table is in excellent vintage condition, fully restored while preserving the integrity of its original finish and character. The rosewood retains a lustrous sheen, and the structure remains solid and true to its original design.
