Hans-Agne Jakobsson floor lamp

This floor lamp, model G-154, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s. Constructed entirely from brass, the lamp has developed a warm, golden patina over time. Its design features a cylindrical double-shade head with perforations on the upper cap, which serve to dissipate heat and allow for a directed beam of light. The shade is mounted on a ball joint, making it adjustable for precise task lighting or ambient illumination.

The lamp’s slender upright shaft rises from a flat, round brass base that provides stability while maintaining a light and unobtrusive profile. Near the top, the stem bends at a right angle to support the shade in an extended position. The power switch is integrated inline on the cord, housed in a neutral cream-colored casing that aligns with the minimalist aesthetic of Scandinavian design.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was renowned for his skillful manipulation of materials and light diffusion to create atmospheric and refined lighting objects. His designs emphasize a balance between technical innovation and elegant simplicity, often exploring the interplay of brass, wood, and glass to produce soft, mood-enhancing illumination.
