Information

This rare pair of armchairs, model BM-62, was designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark during the 1960s. The construction features a solid oak frame combined with original woven cane for the seat and backrest, demonstrating Mogensen’s emphasis on craftsmanship and natural materials.

The color palette consists of the warm, honey-toned oak wood paired with the light, slightly varied hues of the cane weaving, which offers a natural, tactile surface texture. The oak frames show a beautiful grain pattern with a soft matte finish, while the cane remains largely intact with expected minor signs of wear from age and use, including small damages.

The form of the chairs is distinctly linear and architectural, with the straight, minimal oak frame providing a strong geometric structure. The backrest is slightly angled, offering ergonomic support while maintaining a visually lightweight appearance. The woven cane adds an element of craftsmanship and organic texture, providing both flexibility and comfort.

The chairs are in good vintage condition, with visible signs of usage and some minor damage to the cane that do not compromise the structural integrity or overall aesthetic value. The oak frames are well-preserved and sturdy, reflecting the durability and timeless quality of Mogensen’s designs.

Børge Mogensen was a leading figure in Danish modernism, known for his functional, honest approach to furniture design. His work often combined traditional craftsmanship with modernist ideals, resulting in pieces that are both practical and enduring. The dimensions of each chair are 60.5 cm in width, 50 cm in depth, and 75 cm in height, with a seat height of 44.5 cm, corresponding approximately to 23.82 inches wide, 19.69 inches deep, 29.53 inches high, and 17.52 inches seat height.
