
Børge Mogensen
Børge Westergaard Mogensen, born 13 April 1914 in Aalborg, died 5 October 1972 in Gentofte, was a Danish furniture architect.
Børge Mogensen trained as a cabinetmaker with a journeyman's certificate in 1934, at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Furniture School from 1936–1938 and for Kaare Klint at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Furniture School from 1938–1942. He was employed at Kaare Klint's and Mogens Koch's design office from 1938–1942. From 1942–1950 he headed the Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger's (FDB) furniture design office and was a teacher at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Furniture School from 1945–1947. From 1950 he had his own design office.
He participated in the annual furniture exhibitions of the Danish Cabinetmakers' Guild. He has designed furniture for several Danish and Swedish furniture companies, including Karl Andersson & Söner, as well as home textiles for C. Olesen's Cotil collection.
Børge Mogensen was one of the leading figures in the generation of Danish furniture designers who made the concept of Danish Design known internationally. He received the Eckersberg Medal in 1950 and the C.F. Hansen Medal in 1972.
