Birger Hahl bench
This very rare bench, designed by Finnish architect Birger Hahl and produced by Haimi Oy in Finland in 1947, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modernism with its clean lines, natural materials, and functional simplicity. Crafted from solid pine, the bench features a sculptural base with softly rounded edges and a warm wood grain that highlights its organic character. The seat and floating backrest have been newly reupholstered in white bouclé fabric, offering a gentle contrast to the structured wood and enhancing comfort.
Birger Hahl was a notable Finnish designer recognized for integrating natural materials and modernist design principles into his furniture. Haimi Oy was known for its dedication to high-quality craftsmanship and timeless Scandinavian design.
The bench is in excellent condition, with minor wear consistent with age on the wooden base. Its dimensions are 142.5 cm in width, 43.5 cm in depth, and 41 cm in height (56.1 x 17.1 x 16.1 inches).
