Information

This rare dining or work table was designed by Poul Hundevad and Kai Winding and produced by Poul Hundevad & Co in Denmark in 1955. Crafted from richly figured rosewood, the table embodies the restrained elegance and refined craftsmanship typical of Danish mid-century modern furniture. The rectangular tabletop features finely beveled edges and rests upon slender, tapering legs that emphasize verticality and lightness, while providing stable support.

The construction is precise and thoughtfully engineered, particularly evident in the integrated extension mechanism. Two additional leaves are stored discreetly beneath the tabletop and can be extended using concealed sliding supports. A notable design detail is the removable rosewood rod that serves as a handle to draw out the extension supports, reflecting the designers’ careful attention to combining functionality with aesthetic subtlety.

The rosewood exhibits a dark reddish-brown tone with pronounced grain patterns and subtle surface variations. The finish retains a natural luster that highlights the wood’s texture, and the overall structure maintains clean, sharp lines characteristic of the period.

The table is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing minor surface marks consistent with age and regular use. The extension mechanism functions smoothly, and the table’s structural integrity remains intact.

Its dimensions measure 140 cm in width, extendable to 238 cm, with a depth of 90 cm and a height of 70 cm, approximately 55.1 to 93.7 inches wide, 35.4 inches deep, and 27.6 inches high.
