Paavo Tynell ceiling lamp

Model 9068, also known as the “Starry Sky” ceiling lamp or flush mount, was designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy in Finland. This rare lighting fixture exemplifies Tynell’s distinctive approach to atmospheric lighting and refined materiality. The form is defined by a shallow, circular black lacquered metal body, subtly domed and perforated with a series of small, precisely arranged holes. These perforations serve both a decorative and functional purpose, diffusing the light outward in soft, celestial patterns that evoke the visual impression of a star-filled night sky.

Internally, the lamp features a brass grid that acts as a secondary diffuser, filtering the light to produce a warm, ambient glow.
