Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp

This ceiling lamp, model T-602, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s. The lamp combines brass and silk fringes to create a distinctive soft, layered aesthetic.

The design features a circular brass frame from which multiple tiers of purple silk fringes cascade downward in a stepped formation. This arrangement diffuses the light source, producing a warm, ambient glow. When illuminated, the fringes create a gentle interplay of light and shadow that highlights the lamp’s sculptural quality.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a celebrated Swedish lighting designer, recognized for his innovative use of materials and focus on atmospheric lighting effects. His work often balanced form and function, with an emphasis on soft, indirect illumination. The T-602 model is a prime example of this approach, blending mid-century modern principles with decorative flair, serving as both a functional light and a statement piece.

The lamp measures 35 cm in diameter and 34 cm in height (13.8 x 13.4 inches), with a total drop length of 100 cm (39.4 inches) including the suspension. It is in good vintage condition, with the brass frame retaining its original patina and the silk fringes well preserved.
