Arne Hovmand-Olsen armchairs

This rare pair of armchairs, designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen and produced by Onsild Møbelfabrik for Jutex in Århus, Denmark, during the 1960s, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and organic forms typical of Scandinavian mid-century design. The chairs feature frames constructed from solid teak, a wood valued for its durability, rich grain patterns, and warm tonal qualities. The design is characterized by a fluid, sculptural quality, particularly evident in the curved armrests that seamlessly transition into the front legs, showcasing expert woodworking and attention to detail.

The backrests are composed of molded teak veneer, gently curved to provide ergonomic support. The seats and inner backrests are upholstered in black imitation leather, offering a tactile contrast to the warm teak wood. The seat surfaces are slightly contoured and appear to float within the frame due to the discreet attachment method. The seat height is 43 centimeters (16.9 inches), making these chairs suitable for use as office or lounge seating.
