Axel Einar Hjorth cabinet

This master cabinet was designed by Axel Einar Hjorth and produced in Sweden during the 1920s. It is executed in richly figured birch with a warm, deep tone that highlights the natural grain patterns characteristic of the material. The cabinet is elevated on a sculptural stand with turned and fluted legs resting on a platform base, creating a balanced architectural composition typical of Swedish Grace furniture.

The exterior surfaces are decorated with intricate carved panels depicting stylized floral arrangements, classical vessels, stars, and heraldic lions. These motifs are arranged symmetrically across the front, creating a structured rhythm that emphasizes the cabinet’s vertical proportions. The carvings are executed with fine detailing and vary in depth, allowing light to enhance their sculptural quality. The top edge and lower frame feature carved, twisted mouldings that unify the decorative program.

The interior is fitted with multiple shelves in light birch, providing ample storage space.
