Bergboms floor lamp
This rare floor lamp, model G-075, was produced by the Swedish lighting manufacturer Bergboms during the 1950s, a period when Scandinavian design was defined by its minimalist forms, refined materials, and functional elegance. Executed entirely in brass, the lamp embodies mid-century modern sensibilities, combining timeless geometry with a focus on material expression. The hemispherical shade, balanced atop a slender vertical stem and circular base, gives the piece a distinctive architectural presence.
One of the defining features of this model is its sculptural lampshade, which houses a series of concentric rings that diffuse the light, creating a soft and even glow. The pull-chain switch, characteristic of the era, remains intact and adds to the lamp’s period authenticity. The polished brass surface has developed a warm patina over time, enhancing its visual depth and historical character while reflecting the quality craftsmanship typical of Bergboms’ production.
Founded in Sweden in the mid-20th century, Bergboms was a leading name in Scandinavian lighting design, known for collaborating with prominent designers and producing pieces that seamlessly merged modernist aesthetics with practical functionality. This model is a fine example of their work — understated yet technically sophisticated.
The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use, consistent with its period. It stands as both a functional lighting piece and a collectible object of Scandinavian design history.
