Eje Ahlgren floor lamps
This rare pair of floor lamps, model G-125, was designed by Eje Ahlgren and produced by the Swedish manufacturer Bergboms in the 1970s. The lamps feature a combination of brass and plastic materials, highlighted by a distinctive two-tiered dome-shaped shade. The brass has a polished finish that reflects light and surroundings, while the plastic diffuser at the base of the shade softens the emitted light, creating an even, gentle illumination.
The design exemplifies Scandinavian modernism, characterized by clean lines, functional forms, and a focus on high-quality materials. Each lamp has a cylindrical brass stem rising from a weighted circular base, ensuring stability. A pull cord switch is conveniently located beneath the shade for ease of use.
Bergboms was a respected Swedish lighting manufacturer known for innovative and elegant designs during the mid-century period. Their collaboration with designers such as Eje Ahlgren helped establish their reputation for timeless lighting solutions.
These lamps show signs of age-appropriate wear, particularly on the brass surfaces, which display patina and minor imperfections consistent with vintage use. The plastic diffusers remain intact and fully functional.
Each lamp measures 38 cm in diameter and 136 cm in height (approximately 15 by 53.5 inches).
