Bernt Petersen easy chairs

This rare pair of easy chairs was designed by Bernt Petersen and produced by Wørts Møbelsnedkeri in Denmark in 1964. Crafted from solid walnut, the frames feature handwoven cane paneling and retain their original leather cushions. The design embodies Petersen’s minimalist yet refined aesthetic, with a strong focus on material integrity and expert craftsmanship.

The walnut frames are constructed with precise joinery, emphasizing clean lines and a structural elegance characteristic of Scandinavian modernism. The handwoven cane on the backrest and sides provides visual lightness and breathability while maintaining durability. The seat and back cushions are upholstered in the original cognac leather, which has developed a rich patina over time, adding depth and character to the chairs.

Bernt Petersen was a Danish furniture designer and architect renowned for creating functional, well-crafted pieces that balance simplicity with comfort. Wørts Møbelsnedkeri, a high-end Danish cabinetmaking workshop, was known for its impeccable craftsmanship and dedication to quality, ensuring that each piece met the highest standards.

The chairs are in good vintage condition, with leather showing age-consistent wear, including natural creases and tonal variations. The cane work remains intact, and the walnut frames have developed a warm patina that enhances their overall aesthetic.

Each chair measures 60 cm in width, 70 cm in depth, and 75 cm in height (23.6 x 27.6 x 29.5 inches), with a seat height of 41 cm (16.1 inches), offering a balanced and timeless design.
