Carl-Axel Acking wall lamps
This is a rare pair of wall lamps designed by Carl-Axel Acking and produced by Bröderna Malmströms Metallvarufabrik in Sweden during the 1940s. Each lamp features a delicately perforated brass shade, allowing the light to filter through in a soft, patterned glow that creates a distinctive ambiance. The organic, slightly asymmetrical shape of the shade adds a sculptural quality, while the curved arm and circular wall mount emphasize the elegant, functionalist design typical of Scandinavian lighting from this period.
The lamps are crafted entirely from brass, which has developed a rich, warm patina over time, highlighting the age and authenticity of the pieces. The perforations in the shade not only diffuse the light but also project a decorative pattern onto the surrounding walls, making them as much an atmospheric element as a functional light source.
Both lamps are in good vintage condition with signs of use and a well-preserved surface finish. The patina is even and consistent, enhancing their mid-century character without compromising their function.
Dimensions are 26 cm wide, 43.5 cm deep, and 19 cm high (10.2 x 17.1 x 7.5 inches).
